With feelings of joy, satisfaction, and pride as the President of Galata's Community Council, I salute the initiative of our Members for the creation of an official web-page in the internet.

Galata, this beautiful mountainous resort with its long-standing history, its unparalleled architectural heritage and its culture, is an ornament of the region and a point of attraction for thousands of tourists that visit it daily.

Built by the banks of the Kargotis River, in the midst of rampant vegetation with wild and fruit-bearing trees, with the impressive wooden balconies and the wooden stairs of the old, traditional houses, the six Byzantine churches with the pyramid-like roofs and the rectangular tiles, the wooden doors, windows, and beams that are the result of an excellent cultural heritage, and with the brilliant hospitality of its inhabitants, the community of Galata invites you to visit it without any afterthoughts.

As the Russian monk Barsky writes, the village of Galata that hosts these Byzantine artistic treasures is "the most beautiful of all".

So, I welcome you to our Community's web-page and wish that this journey of yours will stimulate your interest so that you will visit us in real life and so that we will offer our hospitality in our own unique way.
